
Born and raised in Bismarck, North Dakota, Chad Nodland obtained a bachelor of arts degree in political science in 1989 after attending George Mason University and the University of North Dakota. He then went on to obtain a juris doctoral degree, with distinction, from the University of North Dakota School of Law.
Chad’s practice is also
varied. Besides providing some back-up for Irv, Chad’s trial practice
presently consists of a wide variety of cases including commercial litigation,
personal injury (such as dog bites, slip-and-fall, car accidents, etc.), adult
and juvenile criminal defense, divorce, adoption, visitation disputes, child
support matters, grandparent visitation disputes, real estate transactions,
employment discrimination, professional negligence, protecting professional
licenses, constitutional law and social security benefits.
Chad has taught continuing education courses for educators, law
enforcement personnel, lawyers and students.
He has been a member of the Supreme Court’s Juvenile Drug Court
Planning Committee and Cameras in the Courtroom Commission and is a member of
the State Bar Association publications editorial board.
He is a member of the North Dakota Trial Lawyers Association, the Association
of Trial Lawyers of America, and the National Association of Criminal
Defense Lawyers. As a founding
member, he was elected as an officer on the State Bar Association Criminal Law
section.
Chad volunteers as a Teen Court Judge in the Bismarck and Mandan area.
He also is the office computer guru.

In his law practice, Chad is employed by Chad C. Nodland, P.C., a professional corporation.
Irv and Chad are each licensed to practice law in all state and federal courts in North Dakota and in the 8th United States Circuit Court of Appeals. Irv is also licensed to practice in the United States Supreme Court. Each is generally licensed to practice in most North Dakota Tribal Courts. Some states, including South Dakota, Minnesota and Wyoming, may allow us to practice in their states’ courts so long as we first make appropriate arrangements with the court and local counsel.
